I understand where are you coming from. I used to ask myself this question all the time. I believe humans are destined for expansion.

By wanting more we grow, we get to know ourselves, what motivates us, what stirs fear inside. I also believe you can be satisfied and still eager for more, not from the place of lack, but from the position of excitement. But this is my understating and everyone is entitled to their beliefs.
