Yesterday, me and my best friend were getting ready to go out and do a proper girl’s night out. You know, the kind of night that’s supposed to end with stories you swear to take to the graves.

But halfway through applying makeup, with the flat iron heating up, my friend waltzed into the bathroom, giving me an apprehensive look,

I’m not feeling it tonight. Let’s just order pizza, and sob through a movie guaranteed to dehydrate us.

Ugh. I felt a sting of regret.

But, because I am a sucker for those doe-eyed looks and because she can out-mix a bartender on his best day, I caved.

I sat there with my one cat eye, waiting for the pizza guy (the highlight of my social life for the evening), and watching my friend whipping up strong Martinis with a full vigour on.

I thought, what is the point in getting frustrated just because the night did not pan out exactly how I imagined it?

What would happen if I accepted this moment?

And the rom-com I have seen more than ten times, the pizza that is no work of art and my gorgeous friend who needs some serious cry-out?

Then it hit me.
